Under 15's Tireless Efforts Bring Win
Scarborough Athletic Under 15’s travelled to Leeds to play UFCA in the Junior Premier League on Saturday 2nd October.
Moving to the Junior Premier League this Summer has been a step-up for the youngsters, who play their home fixtures at Filey Community Sports Club.
An entertaining game saw both teams enjoying a share of possession in the early stages but it was Scarborough who broke the deadlock. Some neat combination play down the right between Ryder Greening and Rio Stuttard found Finlay Hopper free, and he superbly shot into the top corner from an acute angle.
Chances were few and far between for both teams after this. As the rain began to fall, Keith Taylor's Scarborough team found themselves having to soak up the pressure. Some outstanding displays from Jake Gallagher, Connor Webster and Reggie Steels in defence and Josh Simpson in midfield prevented UFCA from making any in roads.
In the second half Rueben Taylor came close from a free kick and George Birley who held play up excellently the whole game was close with a neat spin and shot in the box. Everyone in a Scarborough shirt worked tirelessly without the ball to help defend their lead and keep a clean sheet for Jay Shah in goal.
Final Score: UFCA U15 0 Scarborough Athletic U15 1.« Back to news
