Boro legend Jeff Barmby sadly passes away

Scarborough FC legend Jeff Barmby has sadly passed away at the age of 78.

Jeff was a goalscoring hero for fans of the club during the 1970s, shining in the glory days, which included four rips to Wembley Stadium.
He finished his first season at Scarborough with 29 goals and went on to finish as the top goal-getter in 1973-74 and 1974-75.
He went on to score over 150 goals for the club, including 14 hat-tricks, in almost 400 appearances.
Boro chairman Trevor Bull said: " I have been saddened today to receive the news that one of my boyhood hero’s Jeff “Bionic” Barmby, has passed away.
"Often referred to by many as their favourite-ever Boro player, he gave us an enormous amount of pleasure and excitement with his tricky play, whole hearted performances and of course his goals.
"Jeff was proud to be one of our 'Life Members', something that helped emphasise our sense of continuation from Scarborough FC. In recent years he has been instrumental in gathering together our Wembley hero’s from the 70’s and at such events was always on good form.
"RIP Jeff, we’ll miss the man but you’ve left us with some very special memories."
