Message From The Chairman
Firstly, I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well in this difficult time for us all.
Sadly we continue to have to say goodbye to some of our fellow “Seadogs” as this pandemic works it’s way through, and it’s heartbreaking that we can’t say goodbye as we normally would. When it’s possible, we will remember them as we should, as a member of our Scarborough Athletic family.
We should also be thankful to all our “Seadogs” that are key workers on the front line and hope they keep safe and well.
It’s now four months since we played our last match down at Basford and much work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure our club is kept safe.
I’m sure you will have observed in the press and social media the publicised feelings of many non league clubs, with most showing discontent, with some wanting to play on and some wanting to stop the league immediately. I can’t criticise any of them because their opinions are driven by what’s best for their club and for some to ensure it’s very survival.
We ourselves have been determined from the outset of this current crisis to put the safety of our community and longevity of our club front and centre of every decision we have had to make. When the time came for us to give our opinion to the league on the season, much as we all love our football we had to say that the season needed to end. It was clear that our priority was to ensure we had a club to watch when this us all over.
Today we have learnt that the National League is to play on and the National Leagues North & South are to declare their seasons null and void. We are waiting for the decision of the Northern Premier League on our season and we’ll communicate that to you as soon as we get it.
Stay safe everyone & “Up the Boro”
