Help SAFC and Hanson Cooling Service Ltd raise a 'net profit' for local charity Saint Catherine's Hospice and the club.
The Goal-den Pledge is a scheme set up by Scarborough Athletic FC, in partnership with sponsors Hanson Cooling Services Ltd, in which supporters can pledge an amount per goal.
These pledges will be totalled together and split 50/50 between Scarborough Athletic FC and Saint Catherine’s Hospice in a unique fundraising system of mutual benefit.
Saint Catherine’s Hospice provides in and out-patient care for patients across a 1,600 square mile area including Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington, Driffield, Hunmanby, Ryedale and Whitby.
Each year the hospice cares for over 2,000 people from that area, the largest geographical area of any hospice in Britain other than the highlands of Scotland. It costs £5.4 million a year for Saint Catherine’s to provide its hospice services in the area.
The money generated from the Goal-den Pledge last season, totalling £900, was recently presented to Saint Catherine’s Hospice Director of Funding Development, David Marshall. He said:
“Once again Boro fans have provided their support for their local hospice by joining in the Goal-den Pledge and we are very grateful to them for their contribution.”
“We enjoy a great relationship with Scarborough Athletic and are very pleased that they think of us each season for this fundraising effort.”
“We are very proud that the community’s football team supports the community’s hospice and greatly value the relationship we have with the club and its supporters stretching back over many years.”
