Supporters Club Statement - Stadium Funding Bid

[14 November 2018]

Scarborough Athletic FC have recently released a statement confirming that they had submitted, to Scarborough Borough Council, the planning application for development of the new stand.

Alongside this application, the football club have bid for funds from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund.

The Supporters Club committee are delighted to announce to its members that the Supporters Club have also joined the bid alongside the football club’s main bid partner, Scarborough Borough Council.

The opportunity to be part of this huge project and to support the club with this key development was agreed by a majority vote of the newly-reformed committee. The bid will see the Supporters Club provide funding for 8 new wheelchair bays that will be situated in the existing stand and will allow even more Boro fans - who are wheelchair users - the opportunity to be enjoy the games for many seasons to come.

Speaking about the Supporters Club’s involvement with the funding bid, a Football Club spokesman said, “Their [the SC’s] commitment to such a large and key development is very much appreciated and is a testament to the renewed sense of purpose provided by the reformed committee.”

Supporters Club Vice Chairman, Bill Hunter explained, “The supporters club is delighted to be able to assist the club in such an important project. We feel that the club should be as inclusive as possible and that is why we are particularly pleased to be funding the provision of more spaces for disabled supporters. Since our return home, there has been an unprecedented demand for disabled seats and in many games we have been unable to fulfill all requests. This new development will hopefully allow the club to ensure that all fans can have the opportunity to watch Boro.”
