Sunday 29 January
Scarborough Athletic Under-13s v Shiptonthorpe United
Scarborough Athletic Under-13s hosted Shiptonthorpe United in the semi final of the Hull Boys League Plate competition.
Scarborough started brightly, passing the ball around well and dominating possession.
They were soon rewarded when a well taken Liam Love free kick was headed on by Nathan Dolphin to the back post for Freddie Lockey to tuck into the corner to make it 1-0.
Boro continued to dominate position when Oliver Hesketh picked up the ball in the middle of the park, rode a couple of challenges before playing the ball through to Dolphin who fired it past the 'keeper to make it 2-0.
Hesketh was involved again minutes later when he raced into the box with the ball only to be taken down by a Shiptonthorpe defender leaving the referee no choice but to point to the spot.
Riki-Lee Green stepped up to take the spot kick only to see it finely saved by the 'keeper, but Green was first to the rebound to slot home Scarborough's third.
Just before the break Shiptonthorpe pulled one back with a superb lob that left Regan Exley in the Scarborough goal with no chance.
Shiptonthorpe made life difficult for Scarborough early in the second half and pulled another goal back with a finely taken free kick.
With only minutes left on the clock Shiptonthorpe broke free and Scarborough's keeper Exley was faced with a one on one to keep Boro in the lead and pulled off a great stop to see Scarborough win 3-2 and go through to the Plate Competition final.
Afterwards manager Paul Exley said "It's easy to forget that twelve of these players are under-12s playing up a year in the u13s league and the team only got together 6 months ago. They impress me week in week out with their determination to compete and this is nothing less than they deserve."

Home Walkover

Sunday 11 December

Hessle Sporting Cobras 0-3 Scarborough Athletic
Last time these two teams met Scarborough Athletic had all the possession but ended up losing the game and straight from the off you could tell they were not going to let that happen again.

Boro took the lead in the first few minutes when some great work down the right hand side saw Oliver Hesketh link up with Gianluca Mastrolonardo to split the Cobras defence, with Mastrolonardo beating his man with some great footwork to deliver a pinpoint cross for Freddy Lockey to finish at the back post to give Boro the lead.
Scarborough continued to play some neat football and a second goal quickly followed when the ball was played into the feet of Aaron Dixon who laid a neat ball off to Charlie Wright on the edge of the box and with no hesitation Wright fired a shot straight into the top corner giving the Cobras keeper no chance.
Five minutes later a free kick was awarded on the edge of the area, again Wright dispatched it into the back of the net to make it 3-0 at half-time.
The second half continued in the same manner with Boro dominating play but despite close efforts by Mastrolonardo, Dixon and Hesketh, the junior Seadogs could not add to the score sheet.

Sunday 4 December

Scarborough Athletic Under-13s 3-3 Hessle Rangers

Scarborough U13's welcomed free scoring league leaders Hessle Rangers to Bramcote.
Despite Scarborough starting the brightest they ended up trailing 1-0 at the break. The second half Scarborough raced out of the blocks, but soon found themselves two goals down.
Boro immediately put pressure on the Hessle defence and were soon rewarded when Nathan Dolphin scored direct from a corner to make it 2-1. Shortly after Charlie Wright's fierce shot was parried into Dolphin's path for him to slot home for his second.
Again against the run of play Scarborough fell behind after a quick Hessle counter attack.
With 20 minutes to go a pinpoint corner from Caleb Sheader was headed into the far corner by Dolphin for his hat-trick and to tie the game.
Despite sustained pressure from the hosts the match ended a 3-3.

Sunday 27 November

Scarborough Athletic 5-0 Brandesburton
Scarborough started this first round Plate Competition clash against Brandesburton the brighter of the two teams and they were rewarded when a Charlie Wright through ball found Nathan Dolphin who drove forward, holding off a challenge to slot home his first goal.

Dolphin soon got a second when a parried shot fell to him and he finished from close range.

Scarborough continued to dominate possession and quickly added a third goal. Just inside the box the ball fell to Aaron Dixon to hit a sweet trademark half volley, leaving the away keeper no chance.

Oliver Hesketh finished the half with a neat run passing two players and coolly shooting in to make it 4-0 at half time.

The second half started much the same when a great passing move from Scarborough ended in Freddy Lockey playing a superb ball through for Dolphin to slot home and get his hat-trick.

Scarborough scored a sixth and final goal when a great Jamie Dennis run and cross found Dolphin, but the keeper could not hold on to his header and Joe Wood was on hand to slot it home.

Sunday 13 November

Shiptonthorpe 1-3 Scarborough Athletic Under-13s

Scarborough started this game knowing it was going to be a tough day playing on a very tight pitch that would not suit their style of play.

After 15 minutes of constant pressure the opening goal when Aaron Dixon struck a fine shot that the home teams keeper could not hold and Joe Wood nipped it to give Boro the lead.

Half time

Scarborough started the second half very much the same way as the first and were rewarded with a second goal. This time Dixon's fierce strike could only be parried into the feet of Nathan Dolphin who finished from close range.

Scarborough were then awarded a free-kick and when Charlie Wright struck it, it looked goal bound until the Shiptonthorpe keeper got a hand on it only to see it fall to Dolphin to tuck it away for his brace.

Scarborough did not have it all their own way and the home team pushed forward and were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Scarborough keeper Regan Exley pulled off a great save to keep it at 0-3.

Minutes later the home team were awarded a penalty, the second in two weeks for the Scarborough keeper to face and like last week Exley pulled off a great save down to his right.

In the last three minutes of the game Shiptonthorpe got a consolation goal with a fine strike into the top corner but Boro held firm to get the win.

Sunday 17 October

FC Seamer Juniors 0-4 Scarborough Athletic Under-13s

In very poor conditions Scarborough Athletic Under-13s started well, taking the game to Seamer and were rewarded with the opening goal when Nathan Dolphin latched onto a through ball just past the halfway line to drill into the bottom corner to give Boro the lead.

Scarborough continued to press and when the ball fell to Aaron Dixon on the edge of the Seamer box he hit a powerful volley to give the keeper no chance and make it 2-0.

Scarborough continued with some neat passing moves and when left-back Alex Swales popped a speculative cross into the box, the wet conditions helped it slip past the keeper to make 0-3
Nathan Dolphin again latched onto a Charlie Wright ball to slot home to make it 4-0 to Athletic at half-time.
The second half kicked off with rain bouncing down and with Scarborough continuing to dominate. There were several close efforts with one from Aaron Dixon coming back of the crossbar but Scarborough made it safely through to the next round.

Sunday 18 September

Hull United Whites 2-3 Scarborough Athletic Under-13s

Scarborough Athletic Under-13s started as the stronger team, passing the ball well and creating plenty of early chances. After dominating the first 20 minutes a defensive mix up by Boro allowed the ball to run free for a Hull United player to slot home from inside the box to take the lead 1-0.

This knocked Scarborough off their stride and Hull United started getting on top. With five minutes before half-time Scarborough settled back down and got the equaliser from Oli Hesketh lobbing the keeper from the edge of the box.

Half-Time 1-1

The second half started fairly even and after ten minutes Hull United made it 2-1 with a good strike into the top corner leaving the Scarborough keeper with no chance. Paul Exley's team continued to press forward and got their reward when Caleb Sheader got to the ball before the keeper to poke through his legs to make it 2-2.
