Boro strengthen the board?

At their monthly board meeting this week the directors of the club decided to co-opt Boro fan Kevin Smith onto the board, until the next election.

Fans will know Kevin for the match reports he writes for the website and matchday programme, although it is not his journalistic skills that attracted the board's attention.

Kevin's day job is as a management accountant for Raflatac, and it his is financial planning and forecasting skills that will be put to use for Scarborough Athletic FC.

Boro Chair Simon Cope welcomed the decision, saying "I am sure Kevin will be a welcome addition to the team.  He has already come up with some useful financial prediction models that will help us use our money more effectively."

He continued: "Co-option is a useful tool for us to improve the overall skill-set of the board, but without undermining the democratic principles on which the club was formed."
