Boro Appoint Performance Analyst

Scarborough Athletic appoint Mansfield Town first team lead performance analyst to strengthen Darren Kelly’s backroom staff.

Following on from the recent appointment of David Lynch as the club’s head of recruitment, boss Kelly has added another key member of staff to his backroom operations in Adam Swinney.

Swinney will oversee the performance analysis of Boro at the Flamingo land Stadium and also away from home.

Since June 2019 Adam has held the role of first-team performance analyst at Football League Two club Mansfield Town, leading a team of three analysts covering all pre- and post-match of games, providing various statistics and data to first team management and heads of recruitment.

Between 2013 to 2018 Swinney was in a goalkeeper coaching role with Sunderland AFC and the Scottish Football Association, before progressing into opposition/player scouting and performance analysis side of the game with teams in the then Evo-Stik, National League and Football League including Middlesbrough FC (Academy) and Mansfield Town.

He said: "I emailed Darren while he was in South Africa and agreed to chat on his return.

"We spoke five or six times in length about Darren’s vision and aims for Boro as well as the club’s history and supporters.

"Darren is well respected and has a wealth of experience at various levels of the game and as a team we want the club to achieve its visions and aims".

"Adam is undertaking his role with Scarborough on a voluntary basis, which shows the determination and hunger of both Adam and David, who are excited about the prospect of Scarborough Athletic and our future aspirations."
