Scarborough Athletic & Scarborough Football Scholarship team up to join National Under-19 League

The Scarborough Football Scholarship are delighted to further our link with Scarborough Athletic Football Club by teaming up to join the National Under-19 League.

This will see the team, which will be known as Scarborough Athletic Scholarship, tackling the likes of Carlisle United, York City and Halifax Town in a league that takes place on Wednesday afternoons.

The club will continue to run the successful Under-19 team in the Northern Alliance League on a Monday evening, with Scholarship coaches Denny Ingram and Ryan Blott playing a key part.

Scarborough Athletic director Paul Exley said: "We are looking forward to furthering our link-up with the Scarborough Football Scholarship and at the same time giving players the chance to play at the best level they can.

"Across the board at junior level we are striving to push players on to be the best they can be.

"This link will be a big part of that and to help further with the transition between junior and mens football, we will also continue to run our very successful Under-19s team on a Monday night."

Scholarship manager Steve Brennan said: “I attended the AGM on Thursday in Worcester along with 120 other clubs from the National League.

“For the first time ever a team from Scarborough will be participating at a national level in this competition.

“This aligns with our vision outlined with Scarborough Athletic to enable local young players to play at the highest level possible.”
