Volunteers Evening, Wednesday 3rd July

As a supporters owned and run football club, supporters are the backbone of our football club. With this in mind, we are looking for volunteers to fill the necessary roles across the club, working alongside our reliable and trustworthy existing volunteers to continue to drive the club forward both on the pitch as well as off the field, from the juniors through to the first team. Without finding such volunteers, we cannot continue to grow our football club.
 
We are holding a Volunteers Evening on Wednesday 3rd July to meet both current and prospective volunteers at Scarborough Anglers Social Club, 2-4 Friar's Way, Scarborough YO11 1HN from 7.15pm prior to the start of a new season.
 
Whilst a number of advertised roles are match day based, there are opportunities on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for the following volunteers from within our fan base:
  • Fundraising Volunteers
  • Match Day Customer Service Stewards
  • Golden Gamble/Teamsheet Sellers
  • Match Day Secretary
  • Qualified First Aiders (First Aid at work qualification)
  • Club Doctor
  • Ad-hoc Match Day Staff
  • Pitch Hydrater
  • Groundsman
  • Ad-Hoc Hospitality Host
Fundraising Volunteers
 
To assist the Board of Directors and Commercial team in fundraising for the football club. As a fan run club, we need to be sustainable and by organising events for the benefit of supporters and the wider community, we can be. The opportunities are endless and more pro-active volunteers are required to explore these opportunities with a fresh approach.
 
Programme Editor/Designer
 
Following the excellent work of the departing Phil Grundon, we are looking to appoint a new programme editor or designer, working alongside the current trustworthy group of contributors and the commercial team. The match day programme is highly popular, providing income opportunities and also a mandatory requirement to produce by the club's Governing bodies. The role would be best suited to someone who is organised and able to meet deadlines and wants to run the programme as a project.
 
Match Day Customer Service Stewards
 
To assist supporters in using the new stand and directing persons to their allocated seats. The new stand will be new to us all and if we can recruit some volunteers to assist with guiding supporters to their seats in the new stand prior to a match day, it would assist with the match day experience.
 
Golden Gamble/Teamsheet Sellers
 
The Golden Gamble forms an important part of our match day income. We are looking for pro-active volunteers to assist with selling tickets prior to the game, alongside teamsheets which become available after 45 minutes prior to the start of a game.
 
Match Day Secretary
 
Assisting the Club Secretary, the Match Day secretary would fulfil an important role, liaising with the first team manager, the opposition and match officials to ensure teamsheets are completed correctly and on time on a match day. The role is enjoyable with a great degree of responsibility. Full training will be provided for the right individual.
 
Qualified First Aiders
 
We are looking to add to the existing pool of qualified first aiders to cover fixtures on a rotational basis. The required qualification is a First Aid at Work. Insurance can be provided by the football club.
 
Club Doctor
 
We urgently require a Club Doctor to be present for key fixtures as per FA Regulation, on an ad-hoc basis.
 
Ad-Hoc Match Day Staff
 
Whilst our current pool of volunteers are ever reliable, sometimes holidays, work and illness arise. By having a pool of volunteers who can be flexible and jump in to sell programmes, operate a turnstile, man the club shop or any other role that may fall due, we can ensure match days are as pleasant for all the volunteers as well as visitors by reducing the workload.
 
Pitch Hydrater
 
The 3G pitch at the Flamingo Land Stadium is best when wet. A key requirement for John Deacey's side is a watered pitch. We are looking for at least two individuals who can assist on a regular basis with the hydration of the pitch, moving around apparatus to ensure the team can play their football to the best of their abilities.
 
Ad-Hoc Hospitality Host
 
We require an additional person to help meet and greet guests on an ad-hoc basis throughout the season on a matchday. Working alongside the current match day hospitality team to deliver a memorable match day experience to a small group of visitors. The role is highly rewarding and would suit someone who is personable, pro-active and with a desire to please.
 
Groundsman

To maintain the pitches at Filey Community Sports Club, including marking pitches and general pitch maintenance for the benefit of the Community. Additional responsibilities can be discussed.

A club official will also be happy to discuss any of the roles at the Open Day on Saturday 6th July as we prepare for a successful 2019/20 together.
 

All match day volunteers are offered complimentary entry to home fixtures.
