Match Preview - Boro promotion battle against Bamber

Seadogs look to launch promotion assault

Scarborough Athletic will look to put themselves at the top of the promotion picture with a win over fellow promotion chasers Bamber Bridge.

Boro dropped points for the first time in 9 league games last time out when they faced Saturdays opponents, which ended 0-0 after a fabulous display from Boro keeper Tom Taylor.

The top of the league is just about as tight as it could possibly be with just 2 points separating the top 3 teams, South Shield still lead the way, a point clear of Hyde United who have played one more game than both Shields and Boro, and then a further point behind is Boro.

Bamber Bridge still sit 4th place however are 7 points behind The Seadogs, so defeat would more or less seal a top 3 place for Boro, and their away form is almost as impressive as their home form, tasting defeat only twice on the road in the league all season. They come here with a striker Brad Carsley who joined them last summer, who has scored 13 times this campaign and is the clubs top scorer. Bamber have drawn their last four games, however have not tasted defeat since December 5th, a run of 12 games to match Scarborough’s 11 game unbeaten run. Bamber face a tough run in including games against South Shields, facing Hyde twice, Glossop, Tadcaster and Droylsden all before the end of the month, so 3 points is crucial here for them to keep the momentum going into that tough run of games.

Scarborough’s unbeaten run stretches back to December 23rd and includes 1 defeat in 17 games, and at home Boro are strong losing once all season in the league, back in August. This game is sure to clear up the promotion picture heading into the final 2 months of the season, with a win putting Boro into a very strong position.
