Chairman Trevor Bull excited ahead of massive FA Cup tie
Scarborough Athletic Chairman Trevor Bull cannot wait for the Emirates FA Cup game against Hyde United at the Flamingo Land Stadium tomorrow. (3pm KO)
Speaking to BBC Radio York this morning, he said: "It’s massively exciting, I haven't been able to sleep for days! We’re at a stage in the FA Cup we’ve never been before at Scarborough Athletic and it's a great time to be involved with the club.
He is not underestimating the task in front of Steve Kittrick's side though, with a difficult test against a Hyde United side who are still unbeaten in the league this season.
"Hyde are in same league as us, we've already played them in the first league game at our new stadium as it finished 0-0 in a tight game. They are a very good side with a few familiar players like Paddy Miller and David Brown who have played for us; so it's a tough game but one we can win!"
The prize at stake for the winner is a coveted place in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, and a chance of TV coverage and media interest from across the country.
"If we win, it's likely we’d be the lowest ranked side left in the draw, which would be a real honour. It’s a whole new era for the club playing back in town. I hoped at the start of the season for an FA Cup run to help us engage youngsters in the town through the FA Cup. The town has really embraced us, it's great to see so many kids coming along to our games now and hopefully we can give them something to remember on Saturday. The ground holds 2,000, but I think we can be pushing close to that tomorrow, so get down to the ground early, as it’s going to be a fantastic day!"
The Boro Chairman was down at training on Wednesday evening, and he feels the squad are up for the challenge tomorrow.
"The lads trained on Wednesday night at the ground and seemed in very good spirits. I can’t wait for it!"
