Coulson signs two-year contract
Scarborough Athletic are delighted to announce that striker Michael Coulson has signed for the club on a two-year contract.
The 29-year-old striker has been in hot scoring form this season, finding the net on 16 occasions so far, including 9 goals in the Evo-Stik North to put him 2nd in the league scoring charts.
Following discussions with Michael, it was agreed to sign him to a two-year deal to keep him at the club until the end of the 2018 season.
Coulson, who joined from Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone in the summer after moving back to live locally, was thrilled to commit himself to Scarborough Athletic.
"I've really enjoyed my football since coming back, it's been nice to live back at home and feel the buzz around the town. I didn't expect to be signing any more contracts after St Johnstone, but I'm pleased to commit to the club until the end of next season."
"I've never been a prolific goalscorer in the past, so I need to make sure it continues for the rest of the season and beyond. Everything's in place now at the club and we need to make sure that come the end of the season we are one of the teams that gets promoted."
Scarborough Athletic Chairman Trevor Bull called the retention of Coulson as “a statement of intent” to enter into a contract after interest from other clubs.
"We've been working to get Michael onboard for a few weeks now and it shows our intent for the rest of the season. There's an extra promotion place up for grabs this year and with the start he has made we need to keep him with us to help to be in the mix at the top of the table at the end of the season.
