Own a piece of footballing history?
Would you like to own a piece of Seadogs history?
The club is auctioning off the majority of last season's playing kit.
In this close-season fundraiser for the club, fans can send bids for individual shirts via post or email, with the highest bidders on each shirt winning the historical items after a four week period.
Each shirt has a reserve of £20. You can bid as high a price you wish over £20, and on as many shirts as you like.
For example you could bid £20 on the blue number 6 and £40 on the red number 7.
It is entirely up to you.
Shirts available are as follows:
Red Home Kit (players who wore each starting XI shirt the most are named in brackets):
2 (Carl Wood), 3 (Dave Kemp), 4 (Jamie Waltham), 5 (Liam Widdowson), 7 (Mark Griffin), 8 (Scott Phillips), 11 (Ryan Morton), 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18.
Home Kit Goalkeeper Shirts:
Green 1 and Grey 23
Blue Away Kit (players as above if not stated):
2, 3, 5, 6 (Gary Hepples), 9 (Ryan Blott), 10 (Richard Medcalf), 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19
Away Kit Goalkeepers Shirts:
Green: 1, 23 and Grey 23
The auction starts on Sunday June 15th, and from this date bids can be emailed to [email protected] or post bids to 'Boro Shirt Auction' 70 Tindall Street, Scarborough, YO12 7EE.
All email bids should have 'Boro Shirt Auction' in the subject line, and letters must state 'Boro Shirt Auction' on the envelope.
Bidders should include full name, address and telephone number, stating the shirt or shirts they wish to bid on, and the exact amount they wish to bid on each shirt. If any details are missing the bids will be void and returned to sender if possible.
All bids will remain unread by the auction organiser until after two weeks has past (Sunday June 29th, 6pm). On this day all bids will be read, and the current highest bids will be published on the club's website and in the Scarborough Evening News.
In the following fortnight, up to and including Sunday July 13th, people can send in increased bids, higher than those published on June 29th, for the shirts of their choice. On Sunday July 13th at 6pm bidding will close, all new bids will be opened, and the highest bids on each shirt at that point will be winners.
Winners will be contacted straight away by telephone, and payment will be expected by July 28th. In the event of non-payment the second highest bidder will be informed and asked whether they wish to purchase the shirt at the price they bid.
The club is also selling pairs of shorts and socks from each kit. Red, blue and black are available, black being padded goalkeeper shorts and goalkeeper socks.
These are being sold on a first-paid-first-served basis, and are available to buy now.
Shorts are £12 per pair and socks are £5.
Contact James Hunter on [email protected] or by phone on (01723) 375955 for payment and postage/collection details for shorts and socks.
All shirts can be viewed at a stall in the Brunswick Centre on Saturday June 28th, and bids can also be made there in person.
A few shirts are missing as some are being held back for auction at a club sporting dinner in the near future, and for historical archive purposes.
Some shirts are lesser quality than others due to the rigors of a full season's wear and tear. The blue shirts, having been played in less, are of a better quality. Bidders should be aware that certain shirts are of better quality than others. All shirts can be viewed at the club stall on June 28th.
Some pairs of shorts have had the linings cut out - these will be the last to be sold.
