Tommo looks forward to return?.

Thompson has all-but recovered from a nasty gash on his knee-cap, which he picked up in Boro’s 1-0 Northern Counties East League division one win at Tadcaster Albion last month.

The former Edgehill man was back in training on Tuesday as he started his quest for regaining his place in boss Brian France’s plans.

Thompson said: “Things were going really well for me, I was having a good run of games, then I got injured.

“It has been horrible standing on the sidelines, you just want to be out there playing in games.

“I’ve had the stitches out now and I’ve been running on it a couple of times, so hopefully it will be alright.

“I just need a bit of match fitness now and then I’ll be away.”

Thompson is also looking forward to next season when he plans to become a regular in France’s set-up.

He added: “I’ve had a great season with Boro, it’s been a really good crack, all of the lads are spot on.

“The lads have been brought together from all over the place, but everyone gets on really well, we have a right laugh.

“I’m looking forward to next season with Boro because I can see us being very strong.

“I’m definitely going to come back and play, why wouldn’t I want to?”
