Seadog Trust Announce Start of Board Election Period

This gives members their first opportunity not only to democratically elect the Board of the organisation that runs their football club but also to stand for election to the Board themselves.

Trust Secretary Ben Courtney said, “The Board appreciated that it was elected to run a Supporters Trust and not necessarily a football club. Furthermore, membership of the Trust has increased by over 200% in 3 months to over 500 members. As a result, the original Board has been elected by a relatively small percentage of the current membership. As an organisation based on democracy, fresh elections for Seadog Trust’s Board were the only acceptable way forward”.

Key dates in the election period are:

  • 12 October: Deadline for receipt of nomination forms for Board posts
  • 27 October: Hustings and affirmative ballot if less candidates than available positions
  • 19 November: Deadline for return of ballot papers (if more candidates than available positions)

Courtney added, “The current Board sincerely hope that as many members as possible put themselves forward for election. Also, there is still time for non-members to join the Trust and also stand for election.” Full election rules are available here and on request from the Registered Office: 130 Scalby Road, Scarborough, YO12 5QP.
