Beyond the first team

Scarborough Athletic FC now features much more than just one team, and following the integration of a youth set-up in the summer of 2011 has five teams playing under the club's name competitively, as well as affiliation links with two more sides and an official partnership with the town's women's football club.

Nigel Carson was instyalled as the head of youth development and an under-12s and under-16s set-up was started. This follows the disbanding of the academy at George Pindar Sporst College and enables youth football to continue at a high level in the town.

Earlier in 2011 an under-19s side was set up, with Steve Dorey as manager. That side will take a place in the North East under-19 Alliance for the 2011-12 season having played three friendlies towards the end of the 2010-11 season.

Steve Brennan has put together a talented crop of reserves during 2010-11, with no less than 10 second-string players making the grade at first team level during the season. He will be hoping to continue that good work throughout the new season.

Brennan is also the manager of the East Coast Futsal team who compete in a national league. East Coast Futsal are officially affiliated to the FA through Scarborough Athletic FC.

Boro directors James Hunter, Geioff Osguthorpe and Chris Rooke are co-ordinators of the Seadogs FC supporters team, who are also affiliated to the club, while Hunter is also a committee member and manager at Scarborough Ladies FC - with who SAFC have an official partnership.
