Following the draw for the North Riding Senior Cup quarter-final last night, Boro were handed an away tie against Northallerton Town, after their 3-0 win at Whitby against Scarborough Town.
The game is sure to stir memories of the club's first ever official friendly game, when a newly formed Boro side travelled to Northallerton in the summer of 2007. Boro had played one game previous to this, a training game against Edgehill at Hunmanby. You can relive that game with the match report, view a picture gallery of the game here, and see youtube footage of the game here.
Boro's squad that evening was as follows: Glenn Powley, Jon Hyde, Chris Hyam, Darren Phillips, Baz Gill, Ryan Merron, Simon Cooke, Martyn Ferrey, Dave Botham, Scott Phillips, Mark Griffin, Joe Lightowler, Lee Cappleman, Dave Bell, Andy Taylor, Craig Hogg, Tom Barker, Adam Wilberforce and Shaun Chadburn.
From that squad just Scott Phillips, Craig Hogg and Mark Griffin remain with the club two-and-a-half years on. Shaun Chadburn became the club's first ever scorer in that game, and Scott Phillips notched the equaliser in a 2-2 draw. Phillips has since scored a total of 50 goals in all matches, both competitive and friendlies.
The tie's date will be announced soon, and with the having having to be played by the end of February, one of Boro's midweek league fixtures during the next month will more than likely need to be rescheduled.
The other quater-final ties see Pickering travel to Middlesbrough, York City at home against Boro's FA Cup opponents of August - Guisborough Town, and either Marske United or Stokesley hosting Thornaby.
